Why is bamboo considered an eco-friendly material?

The first reason is that bamboo grows very quickly.
While it takes trees in forests 20 years to reach maturity, bamboo can grow up to about 15 meters in 60 to 80 days.
Additionally, unlike trees which grow only one per seedling, bamboo spreads through underground stems and continuously produces new shoots ("takenoko").
Therefore, it is more efficient to harvest bamboo compared to cutting down trees, making it a more sustainable resource.

Moreover, because of bamboo's strong vitality and reproductive ability, some areas in Kyushu are facing issues with unmanaged bamboo forests.
These unmanaged bamboo forests invade native forests and the satoyama, where humans coexist with nature, disrupting ecosystems.
Our company is also working on developing products that use bamboo from these unmanaged forests.

Activities and Achievements

Planning and Development of Reusable Natural Material Products

We have improved the durability of natural material products by using glass solvents that comply with the Food Sanitation Law.
We are developing products that cover the disadvantages of natural materials, such as their low durability and the concept of disposability for simple items made from bamboo or wood, allowing for longer use.
This reduces unnecessary consumption of natural materials, prevents environmental burden from waste disposal, and avoids unnecessary deforestation of natural forests.

Collaboration with Environmental Conservation NPOs

We exchange information with environmental conservation NPOs to raise awareness of environmental issues, such as unmanaged bamboo forests in satoyama, and incorporate this knowledge into our planning and development. With the cooperation of the NPO "Satoyama wo Kangaeru Kai," our products are exhibited at the Kitakyushu Environment Museum.

Sales of Products Using Thinned Wood

We plan and sell products using wood that has been thinned for appropriate forest management and protection but has no specific use.
By utilizing thinned natural wood, we help to suppress unnecessary deforestation of forests.
Additionally, we process disposable tableware made from thinned wood to be reusable, promoting a shift from "disposable" to "fully used."

Thinned Wood and Bamboo Recycling Flowchart

Our company develops a circular business model using natural materials.
This project aims to reduce the large amount of waste by collecting used natural material products from the food service industry and households, and turning them into charcoal.
We also accept carbonization work for products not purchased from our company.

Assisting with Overseas Logistics for Natural Materials

We import a variety of natural materials, not just bamboo, from countries around the world as well as domestically.
We work with over 480 partner companies in Japan and more than 5 companies overseas, mainly in China.
We have also established an office in China, where bilingual staff work on-site with local manufacturers across Asia, managing and coordinating logistics.
Using our global network and experience, we can assist with international logistics (import and export of products and materials), so please feel free to consult with us.
